Abu Dhabi Municipality permits barbecuing in 24 gardens

Abu Dhabi City Municipality has identified 24 parks on Abu Dhabi Island and mainland where barbecuing is permitted in designated areas, in order to preserve everyone’s health and safety.
Humaid Rashid Al Darei, director of Shahama Municipal Centre, explained in a dialogue session broadcast live on Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s Instagram platform that the municipality has provided special places for barbecues in 24 of the 115 gardens spread across Abu Dhabi The island, its environs and the mainland, while providing 20 sites in the north of Yas Park. Al-Derei stressed the need for visitors to public facilities to join the barbecue in the designated places, in order to preserve everyone’s health and safety.
He explained that BBQ is only allowed in the BBQ areas (stone and concrete grills built as BBQs) and not in the rest of the garden. Hikers are also prohibited from grilling or using any charcoal or wood-burning equipment within parks where barbecues are not permitted.
He called on the public to collaborate with the municipal teams and adhere to all directives and instructions in the various parks, for its positive aspect that contributes to preserving the civilized face of the capital in a manner consistent with international standards.
He points out that in this period of the year, which sees an increase in public attendance at the parks, municipal inspectors intensify their field visits, especially during official holidays, with the aim of educating the public about negative practices harmful to the environment and society in general, and urging them to contribute to the protection of parks and green spaces and to spare them consequent infringements.
Al-Dari stressed that municipal teams aim to raise awareness and not direct violations, but in the event of repeated violations by the public, municipal inspectors have the right to apply the violations to bad practices which include barbecues and hookah fires. , destruction or distorting garden property or removing plants, driving vehicles over weeds or engaging in any activity which may impede garden users.

Cooperation
Al-Derei pointed out that the municipality, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi waste management company “Tadweer”, has provided containers for the disposal of barbecue waste and ash residue without damaging the green spaces and trees.
And indicated that the municipality is carrying out awareness campaigns, including broadcasting awareness messages on social media platforms (Twitter – Instagram – Facebook) and sending educational text messages to maintain public facilities in different languages ​​for the different nationalities of the public visiting parks and public facilities and educational publications through the application (Vrigna).
