Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club Organizes Al-Aliyah Sailing Race in Celebration of Emirati Heritage

ABU DHABI, 1st October / WAM / Under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the club is organizing the Al-Aliyah Sailing Race.
The date of the race will be set for next week after communicating with the relevant authorities to determine the appropriate weather condition for holding the race, for a distance of 7 nautical miles and with the participation of 60 Banoushes.
The organization of the race is part of the heritage races program, which the club implements every season, as these races bear the elements of the ancient Emirati heritage, and attract the elite of Nokhatha and sailors.
Majid Ateeq Al Muhairi, Director of the Marine Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, thanked and appreciated the wise leadership for supporting sports, activities, events, marine heritage festivals, and races organized by the club, to enhance heritage preservation efforts.
He added: “The demand for participation since registration opened has been great, and the (Al Bwanish) category is important because it contributes to developing the skills of sailors and teaching them the foundations of driving sailboats, in preparation for their presence in the big races in the 43 and 60 feet categories.”
Al Muhairi welcomed the participants in the races and events organized by the club in the new season, expressing his full confidence that the inaugural race will emerge in a distinguished manner, and represents the first link in an extended series of races for other categories.
