ABU DHABI, 11 SEPTEMBER / WAM / Abu Dhabi Marine, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, announced a 62% decrease in maritime accidents in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period in 2021.

Abu Dhabi Maritime was established in 2020, pursuant to an agreement between the Abu Dhabi Ports Group and the Department of Municipalities and Transport, to regulate and develop the maritime sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and to be the entity responsible for the maritime system and waterways, providing maritime services, and enhancing the emirate’s position as a leading global maritime capital.

Ensuring strict adherence to international safety standards and safe operating procedures for the use of waterways is one of Abu Dhabi Maritime’s most important responsibilities.

Through close and permanent coordination with the Department of Municipalities and Transport and receiving continuous support from local authorities, Abu Dhabi Marine has played a pivotal role in disseminating and sharing basic information and knowledge to raise awareness of the maritime community and develop advanced coastal and marine infrastructure.

These tireless efforts of Abu Dhabi Maritime have led to an increase in awareness and commitment to the regulations and laws of the maritime sector, in addition to a significant decrease in accidents in Abu Dhabi waters, which is confirmed by the latest statistics and numbers recorded during the peak season of marine activities.
