Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy Organizes Mock Trial Session for New Lawyers

ABU DHABI, 30th October / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy organized a mock trial session for new lawyers enrolled in the 45th batch of the basic training program for the purposes of registration in the roll of lawyers before the prosecution offices and courts of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, with the aim of enriching their knowledge, developing their practical skills and abilities, refining their experience and providing them with the necessary skills. Holding mock trials in Abu Dhabi courts comes within the framework of efforts aimed at raising the quality levels of training and developing the knowledge of lawyers and specialists in the legal field, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Chief of the Presidential Office, Head of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, by preparing qualification programs according to a curriculum that maintains the quality of performance and includes the best international standards and practices.

The Academy indicated that training new lawyers in simulating a realistic trial session falls within the training curriculum prepared as a basic condition for admission to the roster of lawyers registered with the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, indicating that the basic training program aims to contribute to the advancement of the legal profession and prepare national legal cadres. Academically and practically qualified according to the highest international standards, improving judicial performance and enhancing community confidence in the judicial and legal system, of which lawyers are a part.

The Academy indicated that the proceedings of the mock trial sessions represent an applied model for real courts, where trainees perform various judicial and legal roles, including the roles of judges, members of the Public Prosecution, judges’ assistants, and defense lawyers in the case pending before the judicial body, with the aim of consolidating the information and practical application of how to use it realistically in life. Professionalism, by providing trainees with the necessary skills to write memos, provide defenses in lawsuits, and plead before the courts.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy explained that this experience meets many requirements, the most important of which is the compatibility between the theoretical study of law subjects in universities, and the requirements of the practical reality in the courts and prosecution offices, as well as being a practical application of the educational materials the trainee receives, which in turn reflects on the consolidation of the information he has and his acquisition.
