Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival Raises Masters Champion Prize to $30,000 for 30th Edition Celebration

Abu Dhabi (WAM)

The Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival Organizing Committee decided to raise the value of the Masters Champion prize for the next edition of the festival to $30,000, in celebration of the 30th edition of the major international event, while keeping the rest of its prizes unchanged.
Hussein Abdullah Al-Khoury, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Chess Club and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, confirmed that the committee’s decision came after the great success achieved during the past years, the great reputation and prestige achieved by the festival, and the high number of participants, indicating that there are more decisions regarding the edition. The next one will be announced later.
He explained that the festival highlighted many Emirati talents, who benefited greatly from the experts from different countries of the world, most notably China, Uzbekistan and India, and that the holding of 14 tournaments within the activities of the festival greatly contributed to the participation of players of different ages.
Regarding the future plans of the Abu Dhabi Chess Club, Al-Khoury confirmed that the club is in the process of implementing a project to introduce the game in all Abu Dhabi schools, and to contract with an American website specialized in educating and developing its players.
