Abu Dhabi (Etihad)
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, in collaboration with IKEA, celebrated World Food Day on Yas Island, which falls on October 16 each year, in an effort to reach the highest levels of food security and ensuring the availability of safe food for all members of society in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
This celebration included various activities aimed at school students, such as the small analytical laboratory which explains how to examine samples in a scientific and fun way for children, as well as introducing some useful principles on food safety for school students, such as the hand washing workshop to teach students the correct way to wash their hands, through the application of glossy powder (glitter). Then a practical application of the soap and water hand washing method.
Activities also included a smart shopper workshop to teach students the food shopping method and the correct steps of the buying process, and then how to transport and store food at home, and a school lunch bag workshop for introduce students to how to save food in a food bag and provide them with examples of foods that stay good at room temperature that can be used for the bag.
