Abu Dhabi: Officials have announced the opening of a veterinary quarantine facility at Port Khalifa in Abu Dhabi. This service was reported by Emirates News Agency. The Veterinary Quarantine Center is spread over an area of about 32700 square meters.
This move is part of the UAE’s efforts to achieve global leadership in food safety. The initiative aims to increase live animal trade, support livestock imports, increase their re-export opportunities and attract local and international companies in the live animal trade and meat industry.
Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Under-Secretary, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, said that the Veterinary Quarantine initiative shows the leadership’s commitment to achieving global leadership and quality improvement in food safety, public safety and benefit He said that the system would help detect diseases in imported animals early and prevent them from entering the country.
