See the incredible event at the top!
It became highly dramatic when Frisk Asker was visited by Vålerenga in Askerhallen on Thursday night. The guests took a strong away win, but in the middle period there was an incident that could quickly change the match picture.
The home team took the lead by Mikkel Christiansen, but Vålerenga turned the match around goals from Wade Murphy and Sondre Olden.
With 43 seconds left in the middle period, the incident happened that stopped the match for several minutes.
Steffen Søberg saved a shot, but the return went straight to a Frisk player, who was about to finish on an open goal. Vålerenga player Kalle Ekelund was behind the goal and chose to push the goal out of position, so that it overturned.
Ekelund was first sent off for two minutes for the incident, but then incurred two minutes. Thus, the defender received a match penalty, while Frisk Asker had to settle for a drop.
– If you look at rule 98: 1, then goals should be judged in this situation. It is completely fair that Ekelund gets a match penalty, but Vålerenga gets away cheaply here. The cynical act is almost rewarded. That should be the goal, says TV 2’s ice hockey commentator Ruben Smith.
– Vålerenga gets away very cheaply
Ekelund’s match penalty came after he argued with the referee.
The match commentators Ole Magnus Berglund and Henrik Reisvang were unsure how the referees should handle the situation, but both thought goals for Frisk Asker were what had been right.
– Vålerenga gets away extremely cheaply here, said expert commentator Henrik Reisvang.
Fresh Asker coach Vidar Wold was clearly dissatisfied with the decision.
