HISTORICAL: The 22-year-old has said it is incredibly cool that she is nominated in so many categories.

Marie Ulven (22), also known as “Girl In Red”, has the opportunity to win as many as seven prizes during this year’s Spellemann Prizes. That makes her historic.

On Friday morning, the nominees for the Spellemann Prize for last year were announced.

It became clear that Girl In Red, or Marie Ulven as she is actually called, is nominated in seven categories: alternative pop / rock, song of the year, songwriter of the year, music video of the year, producer of the year (together with Matias Télles), lyricist of the year and this year’s release.

No one has ever been nominated in so many categories during a Spellemann Awards.

– Holding the new record for most nominations in history is absolutely insane. I’m incredibly excited, and have really nothing fancy to say other than that this is incredibly cool and that I am very, very happy, says Ulven via press contact in Spellemann.

The previous record was five nominations, and was set by Lene Marlin in 1999 – the same year as the Wolf was born. Kygo also had five nominations in 2015.

The 22-year-old has over 12 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and last year she released her debut album “If I Could Make It Go Quiet”. It got dice roll five of VG’s reviewer.

– I really love this album and I have worked incredibly hard with it. Getting this recognition in all these categories is pretty “fucking” cool, says Ulven.

Another who has the opportunity to win more prizes is Gabrielle. She is nominated in the categories Pop of the Year, Release of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

– I am incredibly grateful to everyone who follows and listens to my music, and although confirmation from a jury is never the driving force, it is undoubtedly a good feeling to be noticed that way, she says via her manager Marthe Vee.

New category

New during this year’s award ceremony is that a separate award has been created for “party music”. Nominated in this award are Carina Dahl, JONE, Rotlaus and Hagle. The latter is also nominated for song of the year.

When the new category was announced last year, Dahl stated to VG that it was “completely raw”, and that the streaming figures show that this is a type of music the people appreciate. When asked what she thought about her chances of receiving the award, she said the following:

– I humbly ask myself exactly that question, because I think there are many before me who deserve a Spellemann. BUT I should definitely aim to be nominated in this category, she laughed.
