Švancer already dominated the qualification and in the race he was the only one to exceed the limit of 90 points, by exactly two. “I’m excited. It’s fantastic that it turned out to be my gold here,” he told the federal website. Švancer advanced to the title in the first race. He drove her clean and none of his opponents approached him. He defeated the second Austrian Daniel Bacher by seven and a half points, and so it remained in the end.

“In the first run I did everything as I imagined. Maybe only the third rail was slightly unfinished, but even there I did the trick I wanted. I just wanted to enjoy the second ride as much as possible,” said the skier, who he had a dangerous fall on the railing during training before the race.

“He almost took his breath away. He had to breathe it for about half an hour, but fortunately he knocked and was able to enter the finals,” described the national team coach Josef Kalenský. He appreciated Švancer’s performance in the fight for medals all the more. “What he did in the final was absolutely amazing. The first ride was completely flawless. In the second, when he was no longer interested, he reached for one of the hardest tricks in the world – the switch quad cork 1620 safety grab. Everyone here from “It only testifies to the level of Matěj,” he added.

The second Czech national team member Štěpán Hudeček did not pass two places to the final, he finished fourteenth in the qualification. Both will be waiting for the Big Air qualification on Monday, the final will take place a day later, three days before Švancer’s 17th birthday. Two years ago at the Junior World Championships, Švancer finished fourth in this discipline.
