The great American designers absent from Fashion Week
New York City kicks off Fashion Week Ball from February 14 to 17. Small problem, most of the big designers are absent subscribers … New York seems shunned by stylists. Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger or Tory Burch did not answer the call. Some houses have chosen to organize their parade out of schedule, while others have not announced anything yet. Small consolation prize, Tom Ford will be there and will close this very special Fashion Week.
If New York has the possibility of presenting collections in physics, almost all of the parades will take place online. The platform Runway360, launched in 2020 by the Council of American Fashion Designers, will house them. Some designers like Jason Wu, known for having dressed Michelle Obama or Rebecca Minkoff with a bohemian-rock touch, have chosen a ceremony with a small audience.
London, Milan, Paris, what about?
Creators around the world had to review the entire program of the parades. As gatherings are prohibited, they have chosen to present their collections digitally. London Fashion Week, February 19-23, follows New York Fashion Week. After canceling the men’s edition in January, 95 designers responded. From February 23 to March 1, direction Milan, Italy. Five stylists from the collective Black Lives Matter in Italian Fashion will open the ball. This collective brings together black designers who felt discriminated against. As for the big names in fashion, Fendi, Valentino, Prada, Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana will be present. Paris will close this fashion month. If the number of creators has not yet been communicated, the event is maintained.
A world at a standstill for a year
Fashion is not immune to the Coronavirus epidemic. More than ever, she had to reinvent herself in 2020. The events where the biggest stars crowded have given way to virtual parades. After being postponed, the Fashion Week dedicated to the haute couture fall-winter 2020-2021 collections was finally able to take place. The “Voices of Couture” platform set up by the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion broadcast the event.
Jacquemus, he saw the big picture. The French designer organized a parade in a wheat field. To respect social distances, spectators were separated by one meter thanks to the ears. The creativity of the experience made it a success, while the house of Chanel is due to unveil its Cruise 2021-2022 collection on May 4 at Carrières de Lumières in Provence. Last year, the French brand had to cancel its planned show in Capri in southern Italy. The organizers therefore hope that the situation will have improved by then to welcome the public.
