Chelsea are weighing the possibility of bringing Avram Grant back to Stamford Bridge to help pressure manager Frank Lampard.
Lampard has come under fire after a poor campaign run in the Premier League, despite a major summer recruiting drive.
The Blues have lost four of their last six top-flight appearances, although they ended that run with a Morecambe pounding in the FA Cup.
Despite this, Lampard still finds his job under threat, with a number of top managers available including Thomas Tuchel and Max Allegri.
And as Lampard struggles in his second year at the helm of the Blues, owner Roman Abramovich is looking to bolster his manager’s backstage staff.
Sky Sports reports that the Russian is looking to bring former Chelsea boss Grant back to Stamford Bridge, believing his experience could be “invaluable” for his manager under pressure.
Lampard played under Grant during the 65-year-old’s one-season reign in 2007/2008, as the Blues reached the League Cup and Champions League final, while also finishing second in the Premier League .
Grant was sacked by Abramovich at the end of that season, before leading Portsmouth relegated to the FA Cup final in 2010 and then taking over West Ham.
