They say money makes the world go round and it can certainly help with transfers, but the richest owners aren’t always the best performers when it comes to football.
Manchester City have instead ridiculed the idea of a real Premier League title race this season, with a 10-point lead already in February.
Many will argue that this is inevitable given the purchasing power City still have and the fact that they were able to overtake their recent title rivals Liverpool last summer amid the pandemic.
Most won’t be surprised to know that City owner Sheikh Mansour is the richest club owner in world football.

The American has owned 62.89% of the club’s shares since 2011 and bought out second shareholder Alisher Usmanov in 2018, but they’ve only won four FA Cups during that time, which is more successful than many, but they don’t are not close to winning the league.
