Abraham Toro and the Astros pass the broom

Quebecer Abraham Toro and the Houston Astros swept away their four-game streak against the Indians on Sunday in Cleveland with a last win of 4-3.

Toro was silenced in this fourth duel, however, as he did not hit the trails once in four attempts. In 17 plate appearances during that series, Toro has hit three hits and produced two runs, in addition to hitting opposing pitchers two walks.

In today’s duel, Jason Castro played the hero by producing the winning point in the 10th inning. Even if he compromised by hitting a ground ball, he allowed Yuli Gurriel to cross the plate.

It was Chas McCormick, however, who performed the best offensively for the visitors, with two hits from a safe place, including a home run, and three RBIs.

On the hill, Astros starter Zack Greinke struck out eight batters in seven innings and two-thirds of work. He was the one who allowed the Indians three runs, however, on five hits and one walk. The victory, however, went to Blake Taylor’s record (1-1), while Brooks Raley signed his second save of the season.

Yankees bow again

An excruciating seventh inning for the Yankees brought them another loss, this time, by a 10-5 count to the Mets, in the opening match of an all-New York doubles program.

The Bronx Bombers have only won one of their last eight games.

On the lawn at Yankee Stadium, the home team led 5-4 after six innings. Pete Alonso got the ball rolling for the Mets, however, with a long solo ball. A few batters later, with each of the cushions busy, Jose Peraza hit a double good for two runs. In turn, Brandon Nimmo and Francisco Lindor hit two and one points respectively to complete the half inning.
