As of September 10, 2023 and until January 28, 2024 the Dallas Museum of Art presents the exhibition “Abraham Ángel: Between astonishment and seduction”.
This is the first time that the work of the Mexican artist has been shown at this level in the United States. The exhibition will focus on showcasing his unique style of capturing the society and culture of Mexico City in the 1920s during his brief three-year run.

“Living in a society that was not prepared for him, Ángel suffered harassment and discrimination throughout his life, but his art embodies joy and vivacity as it traces Mexico’s transformation from rural to modernized,” explains Agustín Arteaga, director from the museum. “This exhibition reveals to the world the artistic qualities without precedent or comparison in its time.”
He died at the age of 19, shocking the art world in Mexico. Figures like the poet Salvador Novo and the painter Diego Rivera wrote about it.
The entrance to the museum is free but for this exhibition there is a cost. However, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, the museum will allow free access to this exhibit on Sunday, October 8. The museum is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
