“Above Normal Weekend Temperatures Expected: Pollen Count High and Record Heat Forecasted”

Get Ready for Above Normal Weekend Temperatures and High Pollen Count

As we head into the weekend, get ready for some above normal temperatures and a high pollen count. While many of us are excited to enjoy the outdoors, it’s important to be prepared for the allergy season that comes with it. The Juniper, Elm, and Ash pollen are still hanging around, and the pollen count is expected to remain high until possibly Wednesday next week.

The warming trend that we’ve been experiencing this week will continue through the weekend and into next week. In fact, today’s high temperature of 73° was 10° above average, making it the 18th day this month that we’ve seen our daily high exceed the February average for that date. So, it’s safe to say that we’re in for a warm weekend.

If you’re looking for some outdoor activities, this weekend will be perfect for a visit to the zoo or botanical garden. With high temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to the mid-80s and sunny skies in the forecast, it’s an ideal time to enjoy nature. Just keep in mind that Sunday might be a bit breezier than usual, so plan accordingly if you’re hitting the golf course or going for an outdoor run.

But wait, there’s more! Monday is expected to be even hotter and possibly the hottest day of the year so far. High pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere will bring near record heat on both Monday and Tuesday. With surface winds out of the southwest and sunny skies, we can expect temperatures to reach 89° on Monday and 87° on Tuesday. Monday’s temperature would be just one degree shy of tying the record of 90°, while Tuesday is likely to set a new record high.

However, don’t get too comfortable with the heat because a big cool down is on its way. A strong front is expected to sweep through North Texas late Tuesday into early Wednesday morning, dramatically changing the temperatures. We will struggle to reach highs in the 50s on Wednesday afternoon, and there is a small chance of rain accompanying the cool down. While the rain won’t be widespread, parts of Northeast Texas may experience a few storms that could reach severe limits.

The weather whiplash continues as we head towards the end of next week. Thursday into Friday, there is a possibility of more rain coverage as moisture rides over the cooler air in place. Rain coverage is expected to increase to about 40 percent on Thursday, with high temperatures only reaching the low 60s and morning temperatures in the lower 40s. It’s truly a drastic change from the late spring temperatures we’ve been enjoying, bringing us back to early March temperatures in just a matter of days.

So, make the most of these great temperatures while you can. Grab your tissues and allergy medicine, and head outside to soak up the sun before we return to “average” at the end of next week. Stay prepared for the changing weather conditions and enjoy the weekend!
