Ahmed Aboutaleb wants with Feyenoord in conversation. The mayor of Rotterdam is not happy with the club’s reaction after supporters stormed De Kuip.
Feyenoord supporters forced their way into the stadium during the game against RKC Waalwijk. To calm things down, the players decided to clap and Aboutaleb is not happy about that. “I thought the storming was terrible, the applause after that was terrible squared,” Aboutaleb said to the newspaper General newspaper. Aboutaleb wants to talk to the Feyenoord club management. He says he considers the response a wrong signal ‘to completely unacceptable behavior’.
“We went there, clapped for them for a while and that’s it. You clap to keep the peace. If you run away from it, it makes much less sense. I would not have wanted that and the rest of the player group neither,” said captain Steven Berghuis to after the game ESPN. “I’ve been here for five years now and I’m used to something. That’s how we actually know the supporters. It is meant from something very positive, namely to support us towards the play-offs.”
