The registration period for Zisch and Zischup in spring has started, now secure one of the coveted seats for your class.
Also in the current school year, the Badische Zeitung proposes Zisch and Zischup, school projects for media and journalistic competence. Fall projects are currently underway, but interested teachers and their classes can now sign up for the spring edition of “Zeitung in der Schule”: fourth grades for Zisch and eighth and ninth grades of all kinds for Zischup. Schools from the entire distribution area of the Badische Zeitung can participate.
The hissing project will unfold in two waves in the spring. Spring project I for schools in Freiburg, Breisgau and Markgrflerland starts on 6 February and ends on 1 April 2023. There is a Zisch for schools in Ortenau, the Emmendingen region, the Upper Black Forest, the Waldshut district and of the district of Lrrach – Spring Project II from 8 May to 8 July 2023. Like Zisch I, the Zischup project will take place from 6 February to 1 April, in the entire distribution area of the Badische Zeitung. During the projects, the newspaper is delivered to schools free of charge during the week – each student receives their own copy every day. On the weekend, the BZ is in the mailbox at home. Pupils and teachers also have the opportunity to use the digital offerings of the BZ.
In Zisch and Zischup, however, not only the newspaper is read, topics such as fake news and serious journalism are also discussed and newspapers are made. Students become junior journalists. They research, write reports and comments, and conduct interviews that are posted online and in a final supplement, as well as appearing on a weekly printed page in Zisch.
Part of the project is a visit of the participating classes to the BZ printing building to learn about the printing house and the museum and to learn all kinds of things about the history of the newspaper. BZ editors also enter the classrooms to answer questions. Of course, we also want to offer all this in spring.
Before the start of the project, a one-day training course with didactic and pedagogical tips for working with the newspaper takes place at the Badische Zeitung in Freiburg. They receive lectures on fake news, how journalists work and how teachers can teach media skills in schools. We can’t wait to see you and your classes!
