About the possibility of war with Russia, this is what the Ukrainian president says

KIEV – President Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, described an unlikely scenario in which a “massive war” would break out between his country and Russia . However, if military action against Ukraine begins and the conflict escalates, the government will impose martial law.

He expressed this in a keynote address to the country on Tuesday local time.

“We believe there will be no war against Ukraine, and there will be no widespread escalation on the part of the Russian Federation,” Zelensky announced. Russia Today, Wednesday (23/2/2022).

Zelensky said Kiev asked Moscow to help resolve the conflict through dialogue in any format. He went on to stress that Ukraine must defend its sovereignty.

In addition, the Ukrainian President revealed that Kiev is considering severing diplomatic relations with Russia at the request of its Foreign Ministry. He added that he would now work on the request.

“And not only on this request, but also on our effective measures regarding escalation on the part of the Russian Federation,” he said.

Zelensky’s statement followed Moscow’s decision on Monday night to formally recognize the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) as independent states.
