IIn February 1964 the Beatles landed at the airport von New York (now John F. Kennedy International Airport), where they were received by around 5,000 fans and 200 journalists. One asked John Lennon: “Will you sing something?” To which Lennon replied: “No, we need money first”. Was that an allusion to what was to become number one on various hit lists on March 16 of that year with 1.7 million pre-orders, the single “Can’t Buy Me Love”? A month later, on April 5, the song topped the singles chart in the United States – Beatles songs also took the next four places. It was the high point of her international career. According to their record company, the “biggest band in the world” is said to have sold over a billion records.
