About sixty passengers from South Africa flights in quarantine hotel at Schiphol

The flights that arrived yesterday had 61 passengers who tested positive. Some of them had come to Schiphol by car and live alone, they are allowed to quarantine at home. That concerns at least five people, says the GGD Kennemerland.

The group of about sixty people housed in the Ramada hotel also consists of partners who have tested negative. The majority come from abroad.

It is not yet known whether the infected people have the omikron variant. More on that may become clear later today. The passengers must stay in the hotel for five to seven days.

Schiphol: no additional measures

For the time being, Schiphol is not taking any additional measures at the airport than the rules that are already in force, such as keeping a distance and the mandatory mouth cap to protect travelers against the corona virus.

The airport and airline KLM are investigating how it is possible that so many infected travelers were on a flight.
