About fifty shipwrecked migrants rescued off Hardelot

This Sunday morning, the national gendarmerie alerted the Gris-Nez regional operational surveillance and rescue center (CROSS) of a danger at sea: a migrant boat is in difficulty off Hardelot. The CROSS therefore engaged the coastal surveillance boat Shoes of the maritime gendarmerie, as well as the intervention tug Languedoc bee chartered by the French Navy.

Nine women

The latter recovered on board the 51 castaways (including nine women), whose nationality is unknown. The tug then dropped off the candidates for the Channel crossing at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, at 10 a.m. The migrants were taken care of by firefighters and border police.

Fourteen migrants were also rescued off Gravelines this Sunday.
