VITROLLES – Some 500 people in the south of France have been brought to safety because of a forest fire raging near Vitrolles, north of the port city of Marseille. Already 30 hectares of forest have been swallowed up by the flames. About 250 firefighters were deployed to extinguish the fire. The fire brigade has called for avoiding the area. Due to smoke and heat, the A7 at Vitrolles is closed in both directions.
