As the second wave of COVID-19 hit Quebec hospitals head-on in early January, 7,906 health care workers, including nurses and patient attendants, were absent.

As of February 16, a drop was recorded to reach 5406. The Minister of Health’s office applauds this figure, attributable among other things to vaccination and the efforts of Quebecers to reduce community transmission.

“The 2,500 returning healthcare workers are making a real difference on the ground, both for patients who have COVID-19 and for those with other health concerns. This allows us to mobilize the right professional in the right place, and for example, free our nurses for pending surgeries.
