About 2,000 people participate in the Race of the Cities against Pancreatic Cancer in Alicante | Radio Alicante | Present

This Sunday the Seventh Edition of the Popular Race of Cities against Pancreatic Cancer was held in the streets of Alicante, a sporting event that seeks funding for research into this type of cancer.

About 2,000 people, including runners, walkers and bicycle lovers, participated in this solidarity meeting that had its beginning and end in the Rambla de Méndez Nuñez in the 5-kilometer modality. In addition, the race in the children’s category has had more than 200 registered. The race has had the support of the Alicante City Council, the Ministry of Health, ISABIAL and the Universities of Alicante and Miguel Hernández.

In the last edition, the funds obtained were used to award two scholarships, each of more than 90,000 euros for basic and clinical research

From the organization of this City Race, Dr. Enrique de Madaria assures that pancreatic cancer has a chronic funding deficit and therefore demands specific items from the administrations for the investigation of the tumor with the worst prognosis of the human being.

Those in charge of delivering the prizes to the winners have been Enrique de Madaria himself; the Minister of Health, Ana Barceló; the mayor of Sports in the Alicante City Council, José Luis Berenguer; the director of Territorial Communication of Quirónsalud, Rosa Ruiz; and Quirónsalud’s doctor, Juan Casellas.
