About 160 cases of lost mushroom pickers and lovers of picking berries in the forest are recorded annually in Belarus, reported BELTA at the Ministry of the Interior.
The department drew a typical portrait of the missing person in the forest: a villager over 70 years old who went on a “silent hunt” alone.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded that simple rules will help not to become a victim of a quiet hunt. Relatives should be reminded of the dangers of going into the woods without a phone with a charged battery, drinking water, and essential medicines. In addition, pensioners will not be superfluous to be able to use instant messengers to transfer data about their geolocation.
Before going into the woods, tell relatives, friends, or neighbors where you are going. Outerwear, if possible, should be bright, not blend into the forest, waterproof shoes.
You also need to have a flashlight, matches, a knife, a supply of food, insect repellent.
If a person did not return at the appointed time, his relatives should report this to the police as soon as possible, without relying on their own search capabilities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
