PrahaIN.cz regularly visits various bistros, restaurants and buffets in the capital. We do not target businesses that are primarily for tourists. A higher price is expected here. On the contrary, we concentrate on the so-called folk creativity.
We are interested in standard places where normal people live. A few days ago, we therefore visited Karlín, where the local buffet caught our attention at first sight.
His prices are abnormally high.
We already noticed the inscription on the window that a whole loaf of bread here costs 138 crowns, half a loaf costs 69 crowns. We have not yet recorded such a high amount.
As well as some of the menu items on the front door.
Grilled chicken costs 628 crowns, half of it costs 338 crowns. In other businesses where we looked to be sure, a whole chicken costs between 350 and 440 crowns. We are only talking about Prague.
Prices are high. Interest in the range is also said to be there. Photo: PrahaIN.cz
Fried chicken in a bun costs 228 crowns in Karlín, and they have a Dutch steak for 225 crowns.
We were there on Friday afternoon, there was no one inside.
However, there is an offer of about twenty courses on the website, all of which are sold out according to the operators.
The buffet belongs to the company AMBI GRIL, s.r.o., which is run by, for example, restaurateur Daniel Kronďák. At the end of 2020, the company reported total assets of 7.6 million crowns, but external sources exceeded seventeen million (HERE). It is not clear what it looked like afterwards, as the public register does not contain these data.
