Aberdeen sacked its coach after “19 minutes” of a humiliating defeat

Aberdeen waited just 19 minutes to sack coach Jim Goodwin after a humiliating 6-0 defeat by Hibernian, to continue their poor run in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday night.

Goodwin retained his post after a shock domestic cup defeat by League Six side Darville on Monday, but Saturday’s defeat was the final nail in his coffin.

The players did not leave the dressing room until the news emerged that Godwin’s term had already ended, after less than a year in charge.

In a statement on Aberdeen’s website, club chairman Dave Cormack said without embellishing his words: “I met Jim at the end of the game. He’s such a gentleman. He came over and hugged me and said ‘It wasn’t a good enough game’. He gave everything he could but the simple fact is that the results since returning from holiday The World Cup is not acceptable at all and the form is very bad.

He added: I feel sorry for the fans, embarrassed, humiliated and shocked after the events of the week, this is how the fans feel and I can only apologize to them.

Aberdeen ranks seventh in the league and conceded 11 goals in the last two matches in the competition.
