Once again, the dubbing industry in Mexico is in mourning. We say so since this November 26 Abel Rocha Contreras passed away at 96 years of age. The actor was best known for being the one responsible for being the voice of Sheng Long in the Latin dubbing of Dragon Ball.

The unfortunate news of the death of Abel Rocha transpired thanks to several members of the dubbing industry in Mexico who reported it on social networks. One of them was Lalo Garza, the voice of Krillin in Dragon Ball and renowned dubbing director, who took the opportunity to say goodbye to his colleague and friend.

“My dear Abelito, the one and only voice of Shen Long in DBZ, got ahead of us. You rest in peace now, friend. Thank you for your kindness, your nice words always, your kindness, your smile, I will miss you. Rest in Peace Abel Rocha. My sincere condolences to his sister Gloria, ”said Lalo Garza on Twitter.

Abel Rocha began his career in the world of dubbing when he was 58 years old. It was Gloria Rocha, his sister, who brought him into this industry after one of her businesses worked. This is how in 1989 he collaborated with Intertrack to play Shen Long in Dragon Ball, paper that he kept in Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Super.

Although Abel Rocha is recognized for playing Shen Long, the reality is that it was not the only role in his career, nor the only voice he did for Dragon Ball. We say so since he also played the Great King Enma of Dragon Ball Z; a Ebizo en Naruto shippuden and even collaborated with additional voices on Neon Genesis Evangelion.

At LEVEL UP we mourn the passing of Abel Rocha and send our condolences to his loved ones. We also wish the actor to have peace in his final rest.
