According to information from the MP of Goiás, which investigates the cases of scheme through the “Maximum Penalty Operation”, more than 10 matches were under suspicion. In the current phase of the operation, information given by players who made an agreement and were in prints or tables captured throughout the investigation is being considered.
The players who recently signed an agreement are: Bryan Garcia (ex-Athletico), Diego Porfírio (ex-Coritiba), Vitor Mendes (ex-Juventude and away from Fluminense), Nino Paraíba (ex-Ceará) and Sávio (ex- Goiás).
In the case of Thonny Anderson, the player’s name had already been mentioned in May of this year in prints that appear in the Goiás MP process. The midfielder is mentioned as the person allegedly responsible for co-opting then-teammate Jesus Trindade. Trindade appears as “closed” and also appears in the spreadsheet with amounts that would supposedly be paid to athletes.
The first stage of the Maximum Penalty Operation was carried out in February and focused only on Series B games. The second stage also investigates matches from the Brazilian Series A Championship and state games.
