Prosecutors said in court that Gutierrez repeatedly neglected his job and that this led to the death. For their part, the defenders of the 26-year-old claim that she has become a “convenient scapegoat”.

Baldwin was maneuvering the revolver – a Colt .45 – when it went off during the filming of a western on October 21, 2021. The shot struck Hutchins and the film’s director, Joel Souza, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Baldwin is also charged with negligent homicide. The trial against him starts in July.
