At CES 2023, the world’s most influential technology event, ABB presented its new “Terra Home” charging solution.
“Terra Home”, which is expected to go on sale already this year, meets the charging requirements of the electric car of the next generation of drivers to use alternative energy sources as much as possible. The innovative technology will allow users to use renewable energy sources available to them more efficiently and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
It is predicted that 340 to 490 million charging stations will be needed worldwide by 2040, and of all electric vehicle charging facilities 82% will be direct home charging.
In honor of the development of the new solution, ABB pre-commissioned a global e-mobility survey in which drivers were asked about their priorities for 2023. 90% of respondents indicated that it is important for them to make choices that are friendly to the planet. 86% of respondents confirmed that they will try to reduce emissions caused by traveling in the next year. On the other hand, the transition to an electric car, while reducing the use of private vehicles and increasing the use of public transport, is an important step towards environmentally friendly behavior that drivers are considering.
As we embark on another crucial year on the road to a low-carbon society, we are pleased to see survey data showing that a large proportion of the public wants to join us in our goal.
The new “Terra Home” charging station offers a unique opportunity to provide even more people with the most simple and stylish transition to electric mobility.

In ABB’s Terra Home, it is possible to install a function that automatically prioritizes energy obtained from renewable local sources such as the sun. More than half of the respondents (54%), who indicated that they would use an electric car more often if they could ensure that the electricity that powers it is obtained from renewable sources, consider such an option as particularly important.
“Terra Home” is not only a new standard for sustainable charging, but also a model of style and simplicity. The minimalist design, wide choice of materials and the possibility of personalization mean that it will fit perfectly into the most diverse homes and lifestyles.
On the other hand, smart features such as Plug N Charge, provides immediate and automatic recognition of the car and the charger, making charging authorization completely seamless. An interactive lighting feature shows charging status, while notifications about charging status are readily available on the ABB E-mobility charger app, which can also be used for authentication, ensuring that only the owner can connect to their Terra Home.
Terra Home and ABB E-mobility cloud connectivity allows an experienced team to service the charger remotely quickly and efficiently, while remote firmware updates ensure a future-proof experience so users can always use the latest charging features.
