Zurich (awp) – The electrical engineering group ABB is strengthening its presence in the US market with a new production site in Albuquerque, New Mexico. For its new factory with an area of 90,000 square meters, the industrial conglomerate will invest 40 million dollars (36.5 million Swiss francs today).
The future site, where cabling products used by electricity suppliers will be manufactured, should lead to the creation of 55 jobs in the region. Recent investments in Albuquerque make ABB one of the state’s 10 largest manufacturing employers, the company said in a statement Thursday.
The new plant is also expected to meet the growing demand for products related to underground cables used to contain forest fires, as well as underground construction and cable network extension projects.
