It was already official, the Cité du cinéma project will not see the light of day. On October 8, the management of Renaud Muselier‘s office announced in The Marseillaise that it was necessary “review the project”particularly for budgetary reasons. The project, costed at 55.2 million euros, was largely financed by the region (25 million euros). And therefore, the CinéFabrique and the Cinémathèque, which were to be brought together on the same site at the Docks des Suds, are looking for a new location.
In this Thursday’s edition, Provence explains that CinéFabrique, a free film school intended for 18-25 year olds, has reached its maximum capacity in its premises on rue Guibal (3rd). For her third return in 2025, she should move to the Muy barracks. But this is a temporary solution. Temporary solution also for the Cinémathèque, which should finally see the light of day in the Crottes district (15th). And more precisely at the Platform, a future place which aims to become “a vast audiovisual and animated image campus”explains Frédéric Bonnaud, director of the Cinémathèque française.
