Snow has caused a lot of trouble for traffic in Western Norway on Tuesday. It has been reported very smooth roads in the Bergen areaand several places in southern Norway have issued a yellow warning for snow.
– There are more people who need help than there are tow trucks available, so queues build up. This has resulted in people getting fed up and abandoning their cars, says operations manager in the West police district, Knut Dahl-Mikkelsen, to VG.
He tells of a double-digit number of wagon trains spinning on the spot because of the slippery roads:
– There are 10-12 lorry trains that cannot get on, and there has been traffic chaos in these areas.
Dahl-Mikkelsen explains that it is the heavy and wet snow that is the problem.
– It is snowing close to the north of Bergen. The snow is very wet and heavy, which makes it difficult to plow away. The snow has also led to several trees falling over the road, says the operations manager.
