Abandoned Pardubice Airport reports success: It has acquired WizzAir routes to Kiev and Lviv

From September 1, WizzAir will introduce two regular flights from Pardubice to Kiev and Lviv. They will fly three times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, an East Bohemian Airport (EBA) airport operator said in a press release.

“The carrier will offer three flights a week to Kiev in the morning and three flights a week to Lviv in the evening. Flights from Pardubice to Ukrainian destinations will serve Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 seats,” said airport spokeswoman Mária Ministrová.

Wizzair is a Hungarian low-cost airline that has existed since 2003. It focuses on air transport in Central and Eastern Europe. “Increasing the number of regular lines is one of my priorities. I have no doubt that new connections to these beautiful Ukrainian destinations will be successful, from both directions,” said Hana Šmejkalová, EBA’s director.

Civil transport from Pardubice has been operating since 1994. Last year, the airport handled 102,045 passengers, which is almost a third less than in 2018. Flights to Kiev in Pardubice have been provided by the Ukrainian company SkyUp several times a week since last autumn.

The airport was closed on March 14 during the coronavirus pandemic. During the shutdown, it was in partial operation, handling small aircraft and freight. The charter season for flights to Bulgaria will begin on July 4, and the first plane will depart for Alicante, Spain, on Monday, July 6.
