Nude photos, names, social media profiles, cell phones and even workplaces. All these data about their ex-girlfriends are shared by abandoned Bulgarians in a secret group with over 24 thousand members in the telegram chat application. The channel is called BG AMATEURS and it has over 31,000 photos and videos of unsuspecting women.
The group was established in February this year. Only men are members. You can’t find it, someone needs to add you to become a member. Almost no one has signed up with their real name, nor has they uploaded their profile picture. If a person is not in your phonebook, you can’t see their cell phone. The administrators are strict and are careful not to get a woman who can reveal what is happening. If by chance someone adds a girl, the administrator gives him a chance to explain what exactly he is doing in the group.
One of the admins, whose name in the chat is like the group -BG AMATEURS, addresses them personally, tagging them. “Yanitsa, you have a chance to stay if you introduce yourself. I give you time until 24:00, otherwise I will send you to BAS to take a selfie “, is one of the last messages to an added woman. The flirtation with the name of the resort town actually means that the girl will be removed (from the English word BAS – I forbid). However, Yanitsa did not respond and was removed.
A typical chat message is for someone to send a few nude photos of a girl, sometimes a video. The images show intimate parts, specific scars such as tattoos and even the faces of the girls. There are no restrictions in the videos. There are both videos of masturbating girls and brutal footage of a man hitting and even kicking a woman during intercourse. This is followed by a new message. It describes

Most often, the authors are abandoned by the girls in question and release the content they created while they were a couple. The tactic is known as revenge porn.
Another trend among sunbathers is to post a screenshot of a girl’s profile and ask if anyone happens to have nude photos of her. “She was naked and she is famous for being very mean. Someone with more info and material? ”The administrator wrote on Wednesday night and attached a photo of a girl. Unexpectedly, however, instead of the traditional answers that at least five more are watching, or someone to take pictures, an acquaintance of the girl appears.
“If you want, I can ask her in person and say you’re interested,” replied a user with the nickname Johnny Sins (a famous porn actor). The administrator quickly got involved and sent the author to BAS again. In another case of a leak, a girl had posted a screenshot of the chat on her personal Instagram account and was making fun of the group members. However, other girls, once they found out what had happened and that their photos had leaked on the Internet, closed their social media accounts.
BGAMATEURS is not the only such group in a telegram. There are also local ones that are only for a specific city. They have fewer members. Some time ago, the vola platform was used, in which anyone, even without registration, could upload photos, videos and more. However, the creators themselves stopped the site because it turned out that all over the world it is used mostly for revenge porn.
It has been happening in Bulgaria for about 20 years. The first case was in 2002, recalls cybersecurity specialist Yavor Kolev, who at the time was head of the specialized department at the CDCOC. No nude photos were even used for him, and the author was a woman. The victim was the ex-boyfriend of the girl’s friend. He downloaded photos of the girl in a swimsuit from profiles on dating sites. He started writing on forums and introducing himself to her. He even wrote where he works. It got to the point that several people were waiting for the girl in front of her place of work.
Since then, the phenomenon has not stopped. Years ago, teenagers posted a video of their classmate. Other girls, after their ex-boyfriends uploaded their data and photos on the Internet, even changed their place of residence and went to live in a new city, says Kolev. He points out that there have even been suicide attempts.
Such videos and photos can also harm the victims’ careers. “Even when recruiting staff, human resources specialists carry out checks on the Internet, look on social networks, put the names of candidates in search engines,” said Kolev, who is now head of cybersecurity at Lev Ins.

In Australia, the jump is 245 percent. In an attempt to tackle the problem, the Australian government has allocated an additional $ 10 million budget to eSafety, which maintains its own Internet team.
Even before the pandemic, revenge porn became so popular worldwide that countries such as Italy, Israel, Germany, Britain, 40 of the 50 US states plus the District of Columbia, and Australia passed special legislation against it. There is no such normative framework in Bulgaria. Therefore, the authors are prosecuted under Art. 159 of the Criminal Code. It reads verbatim: “Whoever creates, exhibits, presents, broadcasts, offers, sells, rents or otherwise distributes pornographic material, shall be punished by imprisonment of up to one year and a fine of one thousand to three thousand levs.”
