Abad could be administratively sanctioned for not complying with the order to arrive at the Turkish Embassy in time – Machala Mobile

Verónica Abad was ordered to perform duties in Turkey from September 1, 2024, according to the Executive Decree and the letter sent to the Embassy, however she arrived in Turkey on September 9 as she announced on her social networks.

This violation does not constitute grounds for dismissal from office as Vice President, but would result in administrative sanctions. For this reason, the Ministry of Labor requested on Thursday, September 12, the opening of an administrative investigation against the Vice President of the Republic, Verónica Abad, for the alleged breach of duties after her transfer to the city of Ankara in Turkey.

The Ministry of Labour has previously requested a reasoned report on Abad’s alleged breach, based on article 48 of the Organic Law on Public Service (Losep), which considers serious misconduct when a public servant fails to show up to his or her workplace in a justified manner for three consecutive days.

However, if the fault is determined, it does not constitute a possible dismissal from office. The administrative summary “is the administrative, oral and reasoned process by which the public administration will determine whether or not the administrative faults established in the LOSEP have been committed.”

For this serious offence, the official may be disqualified from holding public office, since in this case, the vice president only appeared at the Turkish Embassy on 9 September, meaning she was absent from office for eight days.
