Brouwer AB InBev will, for the first time in the company’s history, order penalties due to an unsafe situation that has arisen at the Jupille brewery in Liège.

A strike broke out at the brewery last week, after a series of corona infections. This is accompanied by blockages of the building. However, according to reports from a bailiff, there is also “” an aggressive atmosphere on the ground, sabotage and a dangerous context in which the union even gathered someone who had to be quarantined around the strike posts “. In addition, there are “serious threats from the union” received by several people.
A judge earlier this week decided to impose penalties on people who block the brewery and go beyond what the right to strike allows. For security reasons, the brewer says he sees no other choice than to apply that court decision and to have penalties carried out. A bailiff will therefore be stationed at the Jupille brewery 24 hours a day.
In order to obtain an objective picture, the brewer also requests an additional external investigation, in which she will involve the Inspectorate in monitoring well-being.
