Manchester –
Aaron Wan-Bissaka get a request to defend Democratic Republic of the Congo National Team Of 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Is the defender Manchester United is that ready?
Wan-Bissaka has never defended himself England National Team. He has only played for the U-20 national team twice and three times for the U-21 national team.
There was one opportunity for Wan-Bissaka to make his debut for The Three Lions in September 2019 for Euro 2020 Qualification. However, Wan-Bissaka was injured and was eventually sent home.
Defending for the national team is a dream for every footballer, including Wan-Bissaka. So when the opportunity to enter the England squad was considered tough because competition in the right-back position was tight, then defending the ancestral land was the answer.
Incidentally, Wan-Bissaka is of Congolese blood and once played for the Democratic Republic of Congo U-20 national team in 2015. Therefore, Wan-Bissaka received a call to defend the Democratic Republic of Congo national team at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
Quoted The Athletic, Wan-Bissaka has not yet provided an answer to the local country’s football federation. Even though it could be said, defending the national team in an event as big as the Africa Cup of Nations would be a source of pride for Wan-Bissaka.
But, on the one hand, Manchester United will suffer a loss if Wan-Bissaka actually appears in the Africa Cup of Nations. Because, they will lose three players at once, because Andre Onana (Cameroon) and Sofyan Amrabat (Morocco) will also play.
Even though the 2023 African Cup of Nations will take place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11 2024. The Democratic Republic of Congo is in Group F along with Morocco, Zambia and Tanzania.
The team nicknamed Les Leopards won the Africa Cup of Nations twice in 1968 and 1974, when it was still called Zaire.
