He will be in charge during the last preseason game of his family, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.

The source spoke anonymously as the club haven’t announced their plans.

The New York Post first reported that Rodgers will play against the Giants.

The 39-year-old quarterback hasn’t played in an exhibition game since 2018, when he played for the Green Bay Packers.

The NFL’s most valuable player on four occasions, Rodgers said this summer he’d be ready to play sometime before the regular season.

He is preparing for a first season with the Jets, who acquired him from the Packers in April.

In the Jets’ first three exhibition games, Rodgers backed up offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, while Zach Wilson served as the starting quarterback.

The Jets will open the regular season Sept. 11 at home against the Buffalo Bills.
