Three years ago, Tom Brady showed how one personality alone can transform a franchise.
And the seven-time champion “only” moved to Tampa Bay – during a pandemic. Aaron Rodgers recently moved to the media capital of New York. Like Brady, he leaves a lasting impression. With the city, the environment and above all his teammates.
Jets adore Rodgers: ‘I’ll tell my kids’
The young team of the New York Jets never tired of expressing their admiration for Rodgers. “It’s a surreal feeling when he’s in the huddle,” said guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.
Wide receiver Garrett Wilson went even further. “That’s something I’ll tell my kids in 20, 30 years: I played with Aaron Rodgers.”
Rodgers recently had only words of praise for that Wilson and compared him to Davante Adams, his favorite reference station from the Green Bay Packers.
Cornerback Sauce Gardner was with Rodgers at the New York Knicks NBA playoff game, where the quarterback caused cheers when he was shown on the video wall. “I got to be in his shadow for a little bit, that was great.”
Things won’t really get serious for a few weeks, when the first voluntary workouts are scheduled for the Jets. As part of the Packers, Rodgers was happy to let them go.
