Aaron Rodgers Denies Ghosting Packers GM: “Just Tell the Truth”

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers denies Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst’s narrative that he simply stopped responding to his messages and calls.

The 39-year-old veteran obviously did not appreciate that the CEO mentioned in particular his lack of communication with him to explain the end of the association between the pivot and his organization.

“Did Brian write to me more than I did? Yes, but did I ghost it? No,” Rodgers said in an interview with sports website The Athletic.

“I replied to his text messages. There have been exchanges, but this is the story he wants to go with? […] Are you saying you couldn’t reach me and that’s why you had to move on?”

“Just tell the truth. You wanted to move on. You didn’t like the fact that we didn’t communicate all the time. Look, I’m talking to the people I love.”

At the start of the offseason, the holder of four NFL MVP awards went on a four-day retirement in the dark to figure out if and where he wanted to continue his career. After that, he took advantage of one of his appearances on the “Pat McAfee Show” podcast to reveal that he wanted to be traded to the Jets. His wish was granted five weeks later.

After being obtained by the Jets, Rodgers offered another explanation for the lack of communication between him and the Packers, the team that selected him in the first round of the 2005 draft.

“I don’t think I need to go into details. I’m lucky to live in a wonderful house, but the only negative point is the cellular network which is not excellent. If you want to talk to me, I need to see your face. You have to call me on FaceTime,” he said at a press conference.
