NFL slugfest: Sean Payton criticizes Nathaniel Hackett
Aaron Rodgers: ‘I think it’s totally inappropriate’
NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers is defending New York Jets offensive coach Nathanial Hackett, who was lashed out by Broncos coach Sean Payton.
In an interview with NFL Network’s Peter Schrager, Rodgers addressed Payton’s criticism of Hackett.

Rodgers expressed shock at the comments and stressed how unfortunate it was that a veteran coach seemed so insecure that he had to criticize a colleague to empower himself. Rodgers ended his statement with a strong statement to Payton.
“I think it’s totally inappropriate and I think he needs to take my coach’s name out of his mouth,” Rodgers said.
In the interview he explained why he believes so much in Hackett. “He’s the best coach I’ve ever had in the NFL,” Rodgers said. “His approach, how he makes it fun, how he takes care of the boys and how he does his own thing.”
Sean Payton: “One of the worst coaching jobs in NFL history”
Payton confronted Hackett in an interview in which the new Broncos head coach discussed what kind of team he would take on. Last season, despite high expectations, the Broncos finished the season 5-12.
“It could have been one of the worst coaching jobs in NFL history. It was that bad,” Sean Payton said of Nathaniel Hackett’s work.
While Jets head coach Robert Saleh ignored Payton’s comments, saying the veteran coach “can say whatever the hell he wants,” Rodgers took a different approach.
The Jets and Broncos will go head-to-head in Week 5, a game made a lot more interesting by the recent NFL slugfest.
