London –
Aaron Ramsdale lost the position of main goalkeeper Arsenal this season. Ramsdale’s eviction made his father criticize the club.
Ramsdale lost Arsenal’s main goalkeeper position with his arrival David Raya last summer. He still had time to guard the Gunners’ goal in the first four weeks of the Premier League, but after that he was shifted.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also chose Raya in the Champions League matches. Meanwhile Ramsdale got a share in the English League Cup.
Ramsdale admits that this situation makes him worried, because it concerns his position in the England national team as well. Well, his father, Nick Ramsdale, then joined in and expressed his surprise.
The involvement of Ramsdale’s father was then highlighted by former Liverpool player and manager Graeme Souness.
“It’s time for Aaron Ramsdale to fight his own fight, instead of his father doing it after his appearance on a broadcast this week,” wrote the commentator, in a column for the Daily Mail.
“The Arsenal goalkeeper has to show himself and face the situation he is currently in. Mikel Arteta prefers David Raya over Ramsdale at the moment, but that could change.”
“I would ask him to take the example of Harry Maguire. He took all the criticism, all the disappointment that was directed at him. He faced it and found himself back in the Manchester United team.”
“Scott McTominay too. He was pushed out of the team at the start of the season, and now he is in the team again. That’s football,” added the former Liverpool captain.
