Aaron Judge Urges New York Yankees Front Office to Strengthen Roster for 2024 Free Agency

New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge said during his award ceremony as the Roberto Clemente winner that his team’s front office “has work to do” during 2024 free agency, putting pressure on management to move to strengthen the roster and return to the playoffs in 2024.

“We haven’t been to the big dance in quite a few years, so we have work to do,” Judge told Mike Puma of the New York Post. “Especially on the player side, we have a lot of work to do. I hope we can return to the promised land with some good players.”

The Yankees hope to negotiate with the San Diego Padres for Dominican star Juan Soto, who expects to earn at least $30 million in his final year in salary arbitration and will go for a $500 million contract in 2025 as a free agent.

Cody Bellinger – if he does not return to the Chicago Cubs – and starters Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery will be general manager Brian Cashman’s priorities in the upcoming market.

“It’s a tough time, especially with the World Series going on, but during the offseason is when we’ll see the biggest moves,” Judge said. “We still have a lot of time, but I know they’re busy working. Literally since our season ended, I know they’ve been working in Tampa. They’re working hard and I’m looking forward to getting some updates,” she said.
