2021 is shaping up to be a big year for Xbox, and Aaron Greenberg announces several surprises for 2021. With some great releases of his own lurking around the corner that have already been announced, it seems there are a couple of surprises yet to be announced. A recent rumor suggested that, like EA Play before, Ubisoft Plus could also be coming to Xbox Game Pass. While there has been no indication if this is true, Phil Spencer was recently talking about the future of Game Pass.
Speaking with Major Nelson earlier this week, Phil Spencer talked about what his growing subscription service might look like in 2021. While he didn’t reveal what new additions fans should expect, he did promise it would be an incredible year for Xbox Game Pass. So the surprises could be the rumored arrival of Ubisoft to Game Pass. Or the announcement of new games. Perhaps we will know more when the Bethesda purchase is complete about the exclusivity of future games from the conglomerate.

Following Spencer, Aaron Greenberg announces several surprises for 2021. In his New Years tweet, he talked about how excited he is for the upcoming year. This includes the acquisition of Bethesda, as well as the highly anticipated launch of titles like Halo Infinite and Psychonauts 2. Additionally, he added that there will also be some surprises that fans are not yet aware of. While it could be referring to anything from a new game launch to a new studio acquisition, it doesn’t take away from the fact that Xbox fans have a lot to look forward to in 2021.
Many would argue that one of these surprises may be Bethesda’s long-awaited sci-fi RPG Starfield. While details about the game are still pretty vague, it is confirmed that the game will be coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch. We still don’t know if Starfield or TES VI will be exclusive. But Xbox CFO Tim Stuart has confirmed that future Bethesda titles will run better on Xbox platforms. Until the purchase is made official, we will not know more about the exclusivity issue.
