Drag artist and makeup artist Aarni Mikkola makes another social update about his bariatric surgery. Mikkola had the operation in question in March in Tallinn.

Mikkola says in her Instagram stories that she has noticed a nasty change in her body after the surgery. Instagram stories are viewable 24 hours after publication.

– This has been perhaps the most disgusting thing that has appeared after the operation. The nails crack badly all the time. I’m still the one who takes extra care that my short nails are neat, says the make-up artist.

According to the National Library of Medicine and Laparoscopic.MD, the symptom is often caused by the body’s stress state after surgery and a lack of vitamins and supplements. For the same reasons, some patients have also experienced hair loss. The problem is mostly temporary and can be treated with supplements and vitamins, among other things. This is also how Mikkola’s cracked nails have been treated.

– I eat extra vitamins every day, which are intended for those who have undergone surgery. But now I also went to buy biotin and calcium separately. Let’s hope for the best, he states.

Despite the unpleasant symptom, the drag artist remains positive.

– Others may experience hair loss, for example, so I am grateful for this “trouble”. This is how the body reacts to major surgery. This is precisely now a classic symptom of surgery, Mikkola states.

– But all these possible symptoms are reviewed before the operation, so that the patient is aware of them, he adds at the end.

Mikkola won won The biggest loser in Finlandprogram in 2020. During the program, he lost as much as 27 kilos. However, the weight returned when Mikkola started to be afraid to move as a result of a cruciate ligament injury. Then the doctor suggested to Mikkola a stomach reduction surgery.
