On Tuesday morning, a refrigerator truck driver scraped along the wall of a tunnel on the A94 towards Munich, destroying his vehicle and parts of the wall and causing havoc in traffic.
Update, 12:20 pm: Finally, there is some additional information from the Mühldorf motorway police. As a result, the 41-year-old driver of the said truck fell into a microsleep. In these pivotal seconds, he drove his vehicle into the tunnel wall, scraped along it, which in turn resulted in an estimated property damage of € 75,000 and a total blockade of the A94 towards Munich at around 7am for several hours – all this at the best rush hour. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the driver of the accident for danger of road traffic.
Updated at 10:12: The highway is open again. The traffic situation has eased.
Update, 9:02: The traffic jam continues to grow and extends for about four kilometers to Lochham. According to unconfirmed information, there was also a rear-end collision at the end of the traffic jam. Drivers are advised to avoid the area as much as possible. The passage road to Ampfing is also completely asphalted.
First report, 7:48 am: Mühldorf / Ampfing – A refrigerated truck traveled around 7 this morning on the A94 from Mühldorf in the direction of Munich. At the beginning of the tunnel (correct name: “fence”) in Ampfing, the driver pushed his truck too far to the right and hit the concrete wall. A control box for the tunnel technology was fixed to the wall at a height of about three meters. The truck was completely ripped from the box.
