A7 between Sneek and Joure partly open to traffic again

Part of the Princess Margriet tunnel on the A7 between Sneek and Joure will be reopened in the course of the afternoon. The work was completed on Monday.

This includes the removal of the thousands of sandbags that were supposed to prevent further subsidence of the tunnel. A new stabilization system has also been installed in the tunnel.

A maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour will soon apply to the part of the road that will be reopened. One lane is open in both directions. Rijkswaterstaat expects that the opening of the tunnel will reduce the traffic pressure on the surrounding roads.

It was previously expected that the road could reopen in mid-February. So that has become earlier. There is also work on the road this weekend.
